Crown Hope International Academy does not use corporal punishment as disciplinary measure.
Discipline is what you do for a child, not what you to a child. From time to time children need direction and discipline. By nature every child rebels against parental and school controls that suppress their excessive passion, self-will and foolishness. Unchecked by direction and discipline, these desires lead to a life of pleasurable behaviour, but not productive achievement.
CHIA’s purpose of behavioural management or discipline is to bring the children up in the instruction of the Lord so that they may live fulfilled lives in accordance to Eph.6:3-4 and Pro.22:6.
We are also seeking that children become self-disciplined within a framework of love and security. This will enable our children to foster care and value for each other, self-respect, integrity and a heart for God’s word.
Merit and Demerit System
Rewarding achievement and virtues is a sound principle and encourages children to press on to greater achievement and character traits. We award privileges according to scale of industry, good behaviour, academic attainment and charity.
CHIA disciplinary policy is effective through, the system of reasoning, praise, merit and demerit. All forms of sanctions are recorded and signed by parents and staff.
Suspension / Expulsion
Parents are notified when there is a suspension. In the event of an expulsion being implemented, the school and parent would have exhausted all tenable avenues of resolve.
The Head of school, with the management board, reserves the right, depending on previous events, to require the removal of a child, if in their opinion this would be in the interest of the child or the school.
